Mission Statement
ITD STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
The purpose
of the University of Michigan Information Technology Division
is to enhance the University's ability to create and share knowledge
through the application of communication and computer technology.
We work with our customers every step of the way.
Together we find out what they need, now and in the future, and
together we develop information technology services
that make the best use of all available University resources.
Together we will work to ensure that
the power of information technology
is within easy reach of every student, faculty and staff member.
By so doing, the University community and everyone in it
will have greater ability
to access, process, and communicate information -
across the campus, the state, the nation and the world.

We will enhance our technology products with a variety of services and ancillary products which will assure that our customers receive full benefit.
Knowledge
We will move to an expanded multimedia definition of information.
Connect People with People
An enhanced communication environment will lead to expanded collaborative projects and information sharing among colleagues on campus and around the world.

To enable the creation of and universal access to on-line knowledge and information resources by acquiring, developing, deploying, and operating a wide range of information technologies that are easy to use, that build on the skills that customers have acquired, and that support the customers' research, teaching, learning, and administrative processes.

- 2. To enable the creation of and universal access to on-line knowledge and information resources by making it possible for ITD's customers to use these technologies to do their research, teaching, learning, and administrative tasks without regard for location or time (anywhere, anytime).
CUSTOMER-FOCUS
- 3. To work in partnership with ITD's customers in order to support (through information technology) their research, teaching, learning, and administrative processes.
