Dr. Rodica Pop-Busui MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Internal Medicine, Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Diabetes
and a co-Director of the Michigan Neuropathy Center at the University
of Michigan. She is the recipient of the 2005 Clinical Sciences Scholars
Program Award at the University of Michigan. Her research interests
extend from the elucidation of the mechanisms underlying the development
of diabetic complications to the design and execution of clinical
trials to assess the efficacy of new therapeutic interventions. Dr.
Pop-Busui has been and is a site PI on many major clinical trials
sponsored by NIH such as ACCORD, BARI 2D and NEUROEDIC and by the
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. She is actively involved in
studying the development of new treatments and diagnostic evaluations
for diabetes and diabetic complications and to assess the efficacy
of various therapeutic interventions designed to halt or reverse the
progression of chronic diabetic complications and of diabetic neuropathies.
