FAQ:juggling festivals for newbies
Our festival location (for Saturday only!) is the Wide World
Sports Center, at 2140 Oak Valley Drive, in Ann Arbor, Michigan
From I-94: Take Exit 175, Ann Arbor-Saline Road, and head south for about a quarter mile. Turn right onto Oak Valley Drive and follow it for about 1.5 miles. The road eventually heads north. Wide World Sports is on the left (west side of the street) just before you get to Scio Church Road.
Traffic conditions from AAA Michigan.
The diag (map) is a large, grassy, tree-shaded quadrangle in the middle of the University of Michigan Central Campus. It's located about 200 yards south of the Burton Memorial Tower, an 8-story Bell Tower which is visible from many points around town. The Diag is located just east of State Street and just north of South University Street, about 2 miles north of the I-94/State Street Exit (Exit 177), but you can't really see it from those streets because it's surrounded by academic buildings. We usually juggle on the northeast side of the Diag where there's more shade and open space.
Typically, street parking is easy to find close to the diag Sundays this time of year, but the Church Street Parking Structure is also only about 2 blocks east of the diag:
For the diag, we recommend that you park in the Church Street Parking Structure. (map) You can park there for all day on Sundays, and after 5 other days, although you may not park on the first level.
From State Street: Find the intersection of State Street and South University. These two streets meet in front of the Michigan Union, about 2 miles north of the I-94/State Street Exit (Exit 177). From State Street, head east on South University Street for three or four blocks to Church Street. Turn left; the Church Street parking structure is located on the east side of Church Street, just north of South University Street. Walk about two blocks west to the diag.
The nearest major airport is Detroit Metro Airport (DTW).
See the AATA website for information on local buses. To get to Wide World Sports from downtown, take bus 15 from Blake Transit Center (at 5th and William) to Scio Church and Waltham, then walk west (over the freeway) to Oak Valley Drive, and turn left; the sports center will be farther down on your right. Total walking distance is about two thirds of a mile.
