Knit Baby Hat for Beginners

Materials: Knitting Worsted weight yarn, No. 8 Knitting Needles

Cast on 48 stitches. Knit across all rows until piece measures 7 inches.
Bind off all stitches.

Fold the rectangular piece in half to form a square. With a yarn needle sew the cast-on edge together from the fold to the corner.
Fold the cast-off edge back over the cap to form a one inch trim edge. Stitch ends of folded trim to the hat and the ends.

Pom-Pom: Wrap contrast yarn around a 2 inch piece of cardboard about 40-50 times. Gently slide yarn off the cardboard and tie the middle together tightly. Clip loop ends and trim evenly to make a fuzzy ball. Attach to the point of hat.

Tie: Cut one yard of narrow ribbon in half.
Sew each to the hat at the trim ends.
