Dr. Fei Yan
(Post-doc, Analytical Chemistry)

This is me when I was young!!!!Background & Current Research: My general research interests lie in molecular recognition, nanofabrication, and biosensors. Major efforts of my Ph.D. research program at State University of New York at Binghamton concentrated on biosensor development for the analysis of anticancer drugs (e.g., cisplatin and daunomycin), environmental pollutants (e.g., Microcystin-LR), and more. As a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Raoul Kopelman group at University of Michigan, I am mainly involved in conducting a silicon-based nano-particle research called "Dynamic Nano-Platform" (DNP) funded by National Cancer Institute "Unconventional Innovations Program". DNPs are designed to be delivered into the blood stream and preferentially accumulate at the tumor site through specific molecular targeting. The same DNPs are used for photodynamic therapy (PDT), utilizing conserved, internalized photosensitizers for direct massive delivery of reactive oxygen species rather than release of PDT dyes
