Education:
Ph.D. (Physical Chemistry), University of Michigan, 1991.
M.S. (Physical Chemistry),
Seoul National University, 1984.
B.S. (Chemistry), Seoul National University, 1982.
Current Research:
Current research interests are focused on the
development of biochemical nano-sensors and photodynamic
therapeutic nanoparticles. I am developing an oxygen
sensor encapsulated in an organically modified silica
nano-particle and nanoparticles containing
photosensitizers as a photodynamic therapeutic tool
targeted at cancer cells.
I have also worked on many environmental problems, which
occurr on highways, while working as the head of the
environment research division at the
Korea Highway Corporation in Korea. Environmental
issues such as air/soil/water quality, disposal/recycling
of highway-generated waste and environmentally benign de-icer
constitute my other research interests.
