Ukraine Likely To Start Registration Of ‘Armenicum’
YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)—A joint delegation of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the HIV and Communicable Diseases Fund visited Armenia from September 27 to October 1. Director of the “Armenicum” Information & Analysis Center David Aslanian said that the delegation had visited clinics and laboratories, and studied documents. They were surprised to discover that there is no secrecy around the medicine, the Azg daily wrote on October 7.
“Armenicum” Program Director Levon Gevorgian signed an agreement with the delegation binding the Armenian side to present documents for examination and the Ukrainian side to launch efforts towards registering the medicine in Ukraine.
Five Ukrainians will come to Armenia to be remedied here as the initial step. Although, they have already been Ukrainian patients in Armenia and quite reassuring results have been obtained, Aslanian said.
There were similar initiatives in June on the part of the delegation of the Ministry of Health of Georgia. 10-11 patients will soon receive a trial course of treatment in a Tbilisi clinic under the supervision of Armenian doctors.
Asked to cite the sources of financing, Aslanian said that there are countries willing to cooperate and that free treatment will be continued as far as the work is not brought to the commercial level.
The number of people cured with “Armenicum” in Armenia is 150, according to the Center’s data. Only 30 of AIDS patients and HIV carriers registered in Yerevan applied for medical aid. Only four of the 20 patients undergoing treatment at the clinic are Armenians, 4 are from the US, the rest being Russians, Ukrainians and Jews.
