History in Brief

Kopitonez is the University of Michigan's only Asian Coed A Cappella Group. Conceptualised in 1997, Kopitonez was officially formed in the Winter of 1998 at the University by a group of Singaporeans. Since the Kopitonez' creation and formation, they have been performing songs in a wide range of languages including English, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Singaporean. Hence the tagline "Asian co-ed A Cappella" that accompanies the name today. The purpose of this unique a cappella group is to perform a wide selection of songs to promote cultural awareness throughout the community. This multicultural and multi-ethnic a cappella group takes pride in singing music in different languages and genres and has fun doing so!
