Jaewon has won the Richard F. and Eleanor A. Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement Award
This award is presented to the outstanding graduate student in each degree program. Criteria considered by the department awards committee include student’s active participation in research, leadership and academic performance. Congratulations Jaewon!

Jaewon has won the Best Poster Award for her outstanding research in the Engineering field at the Macromolecular Science and Engineering Department. Congratulations Jaewon!
Xiaopei has won the Charles G. Overberger Award
Xioapei has won the prestigious Overberger Award. This award is given to one student each year from the Macromolecular Science and Engineering Program at the University of Michigan for their research excellence in Polymer Science and Engineering. Congratulations Xiaopei!

Aftin has defended her thesis!
Aftin has successfully defended her thesis. Her next step is a postdoctoal appointment at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe Germany. Congratulations Dr. Ross!

Professor Lahann is Appointed as the Director of the Biointerfaces Institute
The Biointerfaces Institute at NCRC is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, where researchers from the basic sciences, engineering, and medical schools gather to address some of the greatest challenges in medicine today and move toward rapid clinical translation of new technological advances. Aftin has been selected as a Whitaker International Scholar
Aftin is selected as a Whitaker International Scholar. This competitive, national award is presented to students who have completed/or will soon complete their doctorate in biomedical engineering. The awards funds post doctoral work abroad and those selected have demonstrated significant achievement in research, education, or other societal activity related to biomedical engineering. Bolstered by this international experience, scholars are expected to become leaders in biomedical engineering. Congratulations Aftin!
Sam and Caci have received Undergraduate Summer Fellowships.
Sam and Caci have both received the UROP Undergraduate Summer Fellowship to continue their research in our lab this summer. Congratulations to our hardworking Undergrads!
Aftin has received the Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship.
Aftin has been selected to receive the Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship is presented to just seventy-two graduate students university-wide and is awarded to outstanding doctoral students who have achieved candidacy and are actively working on dissertation research and writing. Congratulations Aftin!
Aftin receives both the Marian Sarah Parker Prize-Graduate and the Richard and Eleanor Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Biomedical Engineering.
The Marian Sarah Parker Prize-Graduate is presented to an outstanding female graduate student who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership qualities, and outstanding contributions to the University and/or community. The Richard and Eleanor Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Biomedical Engineering is presented to a graduate student who has excelled in research, leadership, and academic performance. Congratulations on winning both awards Aftin!
