Congratulations to our Undergraduate Students for Receiving Summer Fellowships!

Caci, Clark, Andrea, Patrick, Katherine, and Chris have received summer fellowships. Caci Dishman has received the LSA Internship Scholarship as well as the International Institute Individual Scholarship and will be spending the summer at KIT, Germany to perform research. Clark Teeple has received the SURE Fellowship and will be continuing his research in Michigan with Stacy. Andrea Miller has received the UROP Biomedical and Life Sciences Fellowship and will be continuing her research in Michigan with Hyesun. Patrick Lown has received the International Institute Individual Scholarship and will be spending the summer at KIT, Germany to perform research. Katherine Chen has received the UROP Semi-conductor Research Corporation Fellowship and will be continuing her research in Michigan with Kathleen. Chris Yu has received the Wang Chu Chien-wen Research Award and will be continuing his research in Michigan with Sahar.

The Lahann Lab Is Certified as a Sustainable Lab!


Nathan has received the NSERC PGS-D Fellowship!

The National Science and Engineering Research Council Post-Graduate Scholarship-Doctoral (NSERC PGS-D) fellowship is a three year fellowship from Canada in recognition of academic achievement, research potential, communication, and interpersonal and leadership abilities.  Nathan was given the award under the category of Chemical, Biomedical and Materials Science Engineering. Congratulations Nathan!

Jake has received the MBSTP Fellowship!

The Microfluidics in Biomedical Sciences Training Program (MBSTP), is an NIH-National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering joint training grant and supports interdisciplinary research with an emphasis on biomedical microfluidics. Congratulations Jake!

Professor Lahann is Appointed as the Director of the Biointerfaces Institute

The Biointerfaces Institute at NCRC is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, where researchers from the basic sciences, engineering, and medical schools gather to address some of the greatest challenges in medicine today and move toward rapid clinical translation of new technological advances. Aftin has been selected as a Whitaker International Scholar

Aftin is selected as a Whitaker International Scholar. This competitive, national award is presented to students who have completed/or will soon complete their doctorate in biomedical engineering. The awards funds post doctoral work abroad and those selected have demonstrated significant achievement in research, education, or other societal activity related to biomedical engineering. Bolstered by this international experience, scholars are expected to become leaders in biomedical engineering. Congratulations Aftin!


Sam and Caci have received Undergraduate Summer Fellowships.

Sam and Caci have both received the UROP Undergraduate Summer Fellowship to continue their research in our lab this summer. Congratulations to our hardworking Undergrads!


Aftin has received the Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship.

Aftin has been selected to receive the Rackham Predoctoral Fellowship. This prestigious fellowship is presented to just seventy-two graduate students university-wide and is awarded to outstanding doctoral students who have achieved candidacy and are actively working on dissertation research and writing. Congratulations Aftin!


Aftin receives both the Marian Sarah Parker Prize-Graduate and the Richard and Eleanor Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Biomedical Engineering.

The Marian Sarah Parker Prize-Graduate is presented to an outstanding female graduate student who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership qualities, and outstanding contributions to the University and/or community. The Richard and Eleanor Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement in Biomedical Engineering is presented to a graduate student who has excelled in research, leadership, and academic performance. Congratulations on winning both awards Aftin!
