Adjusting an LRC Computer to Write in NON-Western Fonts:

-from the Desktop screen-

For a PC:

For Mac:

Writing in ALL Non-Western Fonts:
  1. Look at the Taskbar below, and find the button labeled "EN" with a keyboard Icon next to it
  2. Click the "EN" and a list will pop up.
  3. Select the language you wish to write in. (the letters "EN" will change depending on the language you select (i.e. "AR"=Arabic, JP=Japanese))
  4. Open Microsoft Word and type away!

Writing in a Bi-Directional Font (i.e. Arabic, Hebrew, etc..:

  1. In the top-Right corner of the screen is an icon of an American flag, click it and a pop up menu will appear.
  2. Select the language you wish to write in.
  3. Open the program "NeoOffice" from the Finder below.
  4. When the program opens, be sure to click the Right-To-Left button next to the Alignment buttons.
  5. Type away!

If the font you want is not in the list:

  1. Right-click the "EN", choose "Settings..."; an input dialog box will pop up.
  2. Click "Add...", select the language you want from the menu and click "Ok".
  3. After the little box closes click "Apply" then click "Ok".
  4. Click "EN" and find the language you just added, it should be at the bottom.

Writing in Asian Languages:

  1. In the top-Right corner of the screen is an icon of an American flag, click it and a pop up menu will appear.
  2. Select the language you wish to write in.
  3. Open the "Macintosh HD"
  4. Open "Applications"
  5. Open the folder "Microsoft Office 2004"
  6. Open "Microsoft Word" Asian (or whichever Microsoft program you'd like).
  7. Type away!

*Note: The Microsoft Asian programs have Japanese characters associated with some of the commands, there is no way to change this. IT WILL NOT EFFECT YOUR DOCUMENT.*
