The Language Resource Center has facilities for both group and individual study. It is where all language students go to access LRC resources that are available to them. See Resources page for more details on resources available to both students and faculty.

Computing Areas

PC Classroom

PC Classroom
The PC classroom at the LRC has 27 individual computer stations, as well as a teacher's station at the front of the room. There is a projection screen which allows instructors to project the screen from the teacher's station to the classroom. This classroom also offers our "language lab" software, Sony Soloist which gives you the capacity to....This classroom is available to instructors to reserve for special class sessions that require computer usage for a particular class.

Mac Classroom
The Mac classroom at the LRC has 27 individual computer stations, as well as a teacher's station a the back of the classroom. It contains 3 individual stations for video editing.

Audio/Visual Facilities

VVR

The Video Viewing Room (VVR)
The LRC offers instructors use of our video screening room. Activities that are supported in this classroom are: viewing vhs videos and dvd's (all formats and regions), accessing our satellite television stations (please put your request into request@umich.edu), computer/internet and laptop presentations. The room seats 30 comfortably.

The Language Resource Center receives over 80 international satellite TV channels and makes available 13 at a time for viewing in the Modern Languages Building.

Work/Group Meeting Space

Alcoves
The LRC has 3 separate alcoves for semi-private group meetings. Each alcove is outfitted with a dry-erase board, table, chairs, and a computer station. Hold your office hours or study sessions here! As this space is used on a walk-in basis, you should make arrangements in advance to reserve it for your activities.

Faculty Development Station:
The LRC provides space and equipment for language instructors to do their own media production. Capacity includes digitizing of audio and video material as well as scanning images and optical character recognition (OCR).

Deutschlabor (German Lab):
Meet with German instructors: Monday-Thursday, 2-5pm in Alcove B.

We have resources to help you with your language studies. Most materials are for use in the LRC main center (cannot be checked out).

Audio and Video Production:
The LRC has 2 small production studios, one audio, one video. These studios are available for faculty to use under supervision of our production staff. LRC staff will also work with you to find offsite locations and record your media.
