The Language Resource Center has a multitude of resources that we offer to faculty and students in support of teaching/learning languages and culture on the UM campus. If you need support that is not currently listed on our site, please contact us equipres@umich.edu! We are happy to discuss new initiatives, or we can refer you to other support groups on campus that can assist you with your needs.
The LRC manages a collection of print and media that pertain specifically to langauge learning. In addition, our video collection contains many feature films from all over the world. These titles are used to support learning in the classroom, but are also available for students to watch in the main center. Check out our catalog online. Don't see what you are looking for? Put in a request for us to purchase titles that you need for class (this is limited to instructors only).

Instructional Technology Workshops and Consulting
The LRC can help you work technology into your curriculum effectively and successfully! We offer regular workshops open to instructors, as well as one-on-one consultation. Whether you need to learn the basics of Powerpoint, help setting up a Ctools site, how to incorporate an emerging technology into the curriculum, we can help. In addtion to the vast knowledge that our own staff maintains, we have an extensive network of instructional technology colleagues around campus and the world that offer you a rich knowledge base from which to benefit. We will also hold training sessions for your students when you adopt a new technology into your class. Come talk to us about your interests! Or, look at the

The LRC can not only refer you to a funding source that would be most appropriate for your project, but we can also assist in the writing of the grant, and/or writ a letter of support for your application. Funding agents look favorably on applications that have the support of their local support unit, so take advantage of our assets!

FAQ's for Yabla
Why do I need to register or subscribe, if it’s free?
Good question! The LRC pays an annual subscription fee to Yabla in order to make this resource available to the UofM language learning community. The registration process is necessary to verify membership in the UofM community and to count the number of users (and, thus, the amount the LRC will pay). We thank you for your understanding.
Why do I have to wait for my subscription to be processed?
As part of the registration process, we need to verify membership in the UofM community. This means a member of the LRC staff must actually cross-check the request with the umich directory and update the membership database. We thank you for your patience.
Can anyone register or subscribe?
The Yabla video clips will be available to anyone in the University of Michigan (umich) community – undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty!
How long will I have access to Yabla?
You will have access for one month. Just like a library book, it will be possible to renew your subscription before the end of 30 days, if there is no one on the waitlist to sign up, you request will be granted.
