The LSA Language Resource Center, in conjunction with the program, “Enriching Scholarship: Integrating Teaching, Information and Technology ,” May 8 – 12, 2006, presents Teaching with Technology What: The LSA Language Resource Center announces the availability of Teaching with Technology Mini-Grants for year 2006. These Mini-Grants will provide resources for the development of instructional applications designed to enhance and improve teaching and learning. In addition to funds of up to $2,000 per project, staff assistance may also be available through the Language Resource Center. Who: LSA instructional faculty involved in the instruction of foreign language, literature or culture who participate in one or more sessions offered during the Enriching Scholarship program (May 8 –12, 2006) are eligible to apply for a Teaching with Technology Mini-Grant. For further information about this program of free seminars, workshops, open houses and demonstrations, visit the Enriching Scholarship 2006 program website at http://www.umich.edu/~teachtec/ES2006 . Criteria: A critical component of successful proposals will be the clear articulation of how the project is designed to meet a current pedagogical need and how the Enriching Scholarship sessions impact that need. Successful proposals will also provide convincing evidence for the project's direct and immediate positive impact upon teaching and learning. Generally, preference will be given to projects that can be completed during the Spring/Summer or Fall term of 2006. It should be noted proposed projects need not involve extensive software development or highly sophisticated applications. Due to the relatively small size of the grants, and the short timeline for expected completion, small innovative projects or pilot versions of larger projects are more likely to be funded than more comprehensive proposals. Other factors to be considered will include: the feasibility of the project; the nature of the project's impact on course(s); appropriateness of scale; potential for scalability and transferability; the pedagogical needs to be addressed; impact of the Enriching Scholarship sessions, and whether or not the applicant has previously received LSA LRC Enriching Scholarship Mini-Grant funds. All participants in the Mini-Grant program must be willing and able to participate in brown-bag discussions, showcases, and/or other presentations in order to share information, experiences, and materials with other members of the foreign language/culture instruction community. How: Applications for Teaching with Technology Mini-Grants will be available on the web as a PDF HERE or may be obtained from the Language Resource Center Front Desk, 2018 MLB, and 2009 MLB. When: Applications will be accepted between May 1st, 2006 – May 26th, 2006. Notification of Mini-Grant awards will be issued after June 15, 2006.
