ITCS Meeting Maker Servers To Be Turned Off
|
|
On September 30, 2008, the ITCS Meetingmaker servers will be turned off. This follows the end of the ITCS Meetingmaker service on June 30, 2008.
Until September 30, units that have pre-paid for limited support will have this additional time to move their users to another calendaring solution.
|
Limited support means:
- We will only support existing calendars. We will not create new calendars.
- Please avoid changes to calendars such as proxies as much as possible.
- We will continue to offer password resets.
- To allow for a recovery period, units should plan to have their users moved to other calendars by August 31, allowing a one month period where they can be retrieved if necessary before the shut down of the server on September 30, 2008.
Because server licenses will remain available, University departments that would like to continue using Meetingmaker should consider operating their own service or team with another unit that is running a server.
Steve Beebe, manager of Office Information Systems for the Fleming building and the Regents, will maintain a Meeting Maker server for his constituents and has graciously agreed to serve as a resource for other U-M IT providers.
An alternative calendaring solution for campus is the ITCS Exchange Service which incorporates e-mail and real-time calendaring and scheduling for Windows and Mac OS X.
