ITCS-Provided NetWare Services
This section describes NetWare related services provided by ITCS to the UM Campus and Medical Center. This includes NDS Tree Infrastructure Support, Central NetWare Servers, and Local Server Administration.

Identity Provisioning
We have built a system that can flexibly allow department administrators to subscribe to the user accounts that they wish to have exist in their part of the Michigan Tree and fully manage them. These accounts will also be created with the necessary components for Kerberos authentication. Details

MyServer (Formally NetWare File and Print and NetWare Server on Site)
MyServer is a service offered by LNGS that provides a centralized file and print service using Novell technology.  LNGS provides file space on fault tolerant NetWare servers while allowing department staff to create and manage user access to the file space. Details

Infrastructure
ITCS manages the University of Michigan NetWare tree. ITCS's LAN/NOS/Groupware Team provides support for :
- NetWare core software.
- Handles creating containers for new NetWare environments.
- Ensures that adequate replicas of all NDS partitions are kept.
- Operates centralized servers available to NetWare administrators,
- Makes recommendations on standard configurations and practices for NetWare servers.
- Tests and makes recommendations on NetWare-related software (e.g. backup, LAN administration, Groupware), and informs NetWare administrators of patches, security issues and other matters of concern in our distributed environment. However, the ITCS team does NOT administer individual units' servers or NDS partitions. That is left to the unit NetWare administrator for reasons of individual security and autonomy.

Central NetWare Servers
ITCS maintains NetWare servers providing many aspects of support for NetWare administrators. These services include:
- Maintenance of the Michigan Directory Tree NDS replication for all servers on central campus.
- Time synchronization for the Michigan Tree .
- NetWare IP servers for accessing NetWare through the campus NAS.
- Software licensing for Novell and NetWare-related products.
- The NetWare.ITD.UMich volume, made available to campus containing:

- NetWare files for online server installation
- Online installation of NetWare-related licensed software
- Current patches
- Client files
- On-Line documentation
- NetWare Support Connection (NSC)
- Demos and Evaluation Copies of Software
- Beta software
- A drop area for sharing public domain utilities and files with other administrators
