Windows Security
Attacks on computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems and software products are becoming more widespread and sophisticated. Unsecured computers can adversely affect both the owner of the computer and other computers on the internet. Please take time to secure your computers by following the Security Procedures listed below. If you have specific questions on a particular Windows security topic, the U-M Windows listserv is a good place to ask those questions.
U-M Windows Update Service One of the most important Windows security practices is to ensure timely and regular patching of all Windows machines. The central U-M Windows Update Service allows units to configure their workstations to contact a local sources for Microsoft updates. Units on campus running Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for their users have offered to make this service more widely available on campus. Follow this link for more information about how to use this service.
If you run a WSUS server that you would like to add to the pool of WSUS resources available to campus, please contact ITCS W2K Support.
