Windows DHCP in the U-M Campus Forest

For administrators of Windows computers, running Windows DHCP provides the advantage of being integrated with Windows dynamic DNS and Active Directory. A number of organizations on campus are now running Windows DHCP servers.

Because Windows DHCP servers are integrated with Active Directory, a DHCP server entry and authorization must be created in the Active Directory by an enterprise-level administrator. If you are a Windows administrator in the U-M Windows forest, and would like to create a new Windows DHCP server, send a message to W2kSupport@umich.edu that includes the name of the server on which DHCP will be run.

The campus forest does NOT provide DHCP services to clients.
