Job Opportunity:
Senior Visiting Fellow
Summary:
PRINCETON UNIVERSITY, the Princeton Environmental Institute (PEI) and the Department of Near Eastern Studies invite applicants with established careers in government, academic institutions, NGOs, or industry to apply for a one-year senior visiting fellowship position at Princeton University as part of the Oil, Energy, and the Middle East program. This program comprises an on-going effort by an interdisciplinary team of Princeton faculty to examine the impact of current political, economic, and technological trends on world energy supplies.
The Visiting Fellow will be appointed in the Princeton Environmental Institute. The appointment will be for a one (1) year term beginning in September 2008 with the possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities Include:
While at Princeton, the fellow will be expected to engage in independent research in the field; to teach a semester long course; and to contribute to a program of lectures, conferences, and related activities.
Qualifications Include:
It is preferred that applicants have leadership experience in government; significant associated publications; and an advanced degree.
Salary:
Salary, title, rank, and teaching status will be based on the applicant's qualifications and are subject to review and approval by the Dean of the Faculty of Princeton University. A $2000 research allowance will be provided as well. Travel assistance of up to $1500 for round-trip, economy class airfare will be available in the aggregate for the selected fellow and members of his/her immediate family.

Ecology / Field Biology / Environmental Science Faculty
Summary:
Bennington College seeks an ecologist, field biologist, or environmental scientist for a one-year replacement position beginning in the fall of 2008. Particular area of specialty is open. Attractive possibilities include, but are not limited to: landscape ecology, fungal and/or soil ecology, plant-animal interactions, biostatistics, or applied/human ecology. Teaching responsibilities will include a mix of introductory and more advanced classes for biology students, and classes of more general interest. All may be designed around candidate's particular interests and specialties. Classes addressing environmental themes and applications are particularly welcome. Bennington College encourages innovation in curricular development and invites creative approaches to course design. Terms of appointment (full-time or part-time) may be flexible. Lab space for own research can be made available, and Bennington's calendar includes a seven-week internship term in January and February with no teaching obligations. Candidates should have Ph.D., be near completion of degree, or have significant pertinent professional experience.

Responsibilities Include:

Summary:
The Department of Community, Agriculture, Recreation and Resource Studies (CARRS) desires an individual at the Associate Professor or Professor level to lead a modern, innovative program in agriculture and natural resources education. The CARRS Department envisions a cutting-edge agriculture and natural resources education program with curriculum that emphasizes the interface between agriculture and the environment and embraces the growing breadth of opportunities and interests spanned by the field of agriculture and natural resources education.
The CARRS Department is a multidisciplinary department that addresses critical issues at the interfaces of agriculture, natural resources, recreation and communities both domestically and internationally. Our mission is to assist the development of sustainable communities by conducting excellent scholarly research, teaching and outreach. The CARRS Department is home to the Environmental Studies and Agriscience undergraduate major which can lead to teacher certification in Agriscience and Natural Resources. The CARRS Department partners with the Michigan State University (MSU) Department of Teacher Education and the Michigan Department of Education in the certification of secondary teachers of Agriscience and Natural Resources.
Responsibilities Include:
The successful candidate is expected to build on MSU's international reputation for scholarship in agriculture and natural resources education and contribute to scholarship in the broader CARRS thematic area of Community Engagement and Education. The successful candidate is expected to create a well-funded program that results in high-quality research, journal publications and outreach. This person will be expected to work with appropriate state and national-level agencies and organizations and the Secondary Teacher Education program at MSU, as well as with secondary education programs in agriculture and natural resources across the state, to provide leadership for the Agriscience and Natural Resources Education teacher certification program at Michigan State University. As a complement to partnerships among MSU units, this person will provide a critical link between the ANR Education program and the adult and youth programs of MSU Extension to broaden the reach of both units. This position will involve teaching two courses per year at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.
Qualifications Include:
The qualifications for this position are an earned doctorate in a relevant field, demonstrated and sustained record of scholarly research, teaching and engagement, evidence of effective and successful partnerships with State agencies, University programs and secondary education initiatives involved in agriculture and natural resources education, and a commitment to programs or initiatives that foster and sustain diversity. Candidates must meet criteria for tenure at Michigan State University.
