Managed to gather a few frozen photons last night/this morning [January 9-10, 2010].
Mars, while small, is putting on a show and only about two weeks away from its closest approach to us
for the next 5 years.
The attached image is from this morning and shows the North Polar Cap and wedge shaped Syrtis Major
as major features. If you look close it appears that we are starting to see the start of the breakup of
the NPC (it’s springtime in the northern hemisphere).
