Welcome to the LS&A Honor Council Website!
What is Honor Council?
The Code of Academic Integrity is found in the Academic Judiciary Manual of Procedures (found here) and reads as follows:
The undergraduate academic community, like all communities, functions best when its members treat one another with honesty, fairness, respect, and trust. The College holds all members of its community to high standards of scholarship and integrity. To accomplish its mission of providing an optimal educational environment and developing leaders of society, the College promotes the assumption of personal responsibility and integrity and prohibits all forms of academic dishonesty. Conduct that violates the academic integrity and ethical standards of the College community cannot be tolerated and will result in serious consequences and disciplinary action.

The Honor Council is a body of students that is a part of the LSA Student Government. Honor Council’s purpose is to promote academic integrity within the LSA community. Honor Council works toward this goal by educating students about their rights and responsibilities regarding academic integrity. Honor Council works closely with the office of the Assistant Dean for Student Academic Affairs. During each adjudication hearing, one Honor Council member is present to give student input on the process. The Honor Council member can also provide information to the accused student regarding the process and their rights. Honor Council members are a part of the hearing process to emphasize the importance of acting honestly to promote respect and trust in the student body.
