Ever have questions you need answered about communications but don't have time to schedule an advising appointment, or just need a quick answer to a simple question? Most importantly, do you ever wish you had someone to provide class or professor recommendations?

We are here to help! MACS offers peer advising (meaning we are students, just like you). Simply e- mail us with any questions you may have. We have extra experience in the Communications Studies department and would love to help. We promise to respond rapidly and with our best answers. And if we don't know the answer, we'll notify our supervisor (so you don't have to) and then get back to you!

TGIN Online Media/Blog Intern Wanted

Thank God It's Natural is a manufacturer of natural and eco-friendly products for the hair, body and home, and one of the fastest growing social media portals on the Internet for African-American women interested in issues related to health, wellness and natural living (over 1M blog views). We are looking to take our online presence to the next level and are searching for a qualified candidate studying Journalism, English or Marketing to become our next Online Magazine Intern. This is a high level internship with a lot of strategic assignments. Our founder/CEO is a Harvard College and Law School grad, and has a tremendous business acumen. Interns will have the opportunity to work directly with her and will walk away with very marketable skills and a glowing recommendation. Interns can work from home (or Starbucks), but should be comfy in virtually all virtual environments.

Responsibilities:

- Write stories having to do with nutrition, fitness, health and wellness
- Assist with managing Thank God I’m Natural’s blog by responding to user comments.
- Manage contact/relationships with guest bloggers
- Manage requests for sponsorship/advertising
- Review metrics of traffic statistics, reports and blog comment feedback
- Troubleshoot and repair bugs and other technical problems

Ideal Candidate:

- Experienced and comfortable with WordPress
- Crisp, professional writing style that adheres to our brand standards
- Generally aware of Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
- Organized, driven, and passionate about healthy lifestyles

Takeda - 2011 Summer Internship - Corporate Communications

OBJECTIVES: 
Takeda's internship program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience.  The summer internship program is 12 weeks in length and offers a unique perspective into a world-class pharmaceutical company. Compensation is competitive, and financed temporary housing is available to those who qualify. Our internship program also provides you the opportunity to network with people at Takeda through various planned events and activities.

To aim is to introduce students or recent graduates to a corporate communications department in the pharmaceutical industry, offering daily department activities and learning broader communication and public relations strategies. The intern will be an active member of the Corporate Communications team and will gain hands-on experience by being involved in: media relations, Web site and press material development, special event coordination, community outreach and internal strategy sessions.

The Takeda Corporate Communications department seeks candidates who are eager to learn about the many aspects of a corporate public relations environment and dealing with the various challenging elements facing the pharmaceutical industry.

ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

  • Assisting in the development and execution of PR campaigns for Takeda
  • Preparing communication materials for internal review and internal/external distribution
  • Developing media materials and implementing media relations efforts for corporate and/or compound/product news
  • Conducting research to support PR campaigns
  • Assisting with daily media monitoring and organizing media coverage
  • Drafting content for Takeda's corporate intranet and Web sites, assist with appropriate content posting
  • Assisting with corporate initiatives including community outreach, charitable giving and associated events

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

  • Enrolled in a U.S. accredited university
  • Public Relations/Journalism/Mass Communication majors preferred (must be entering Junior year or above).
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word
