Tiamat v. Marduk By Leslie Raymond, Jason Jay Stevens and Tim Chupp
This piece brings together elements of a 4,000-year-old Babylonian myth of creation in which the heroic god Marduk defeats the dragon-like goddess Tiamat, who represents the universe prior to the time of the gods (and who is depicted as swirling watery) chaos. Marduk then becomes king of the gods and establishes order, which eventually gives rise to human civilization and language.

Leslie Raymond received her BFA in film & video from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1990, and completed an MFA in New Genres at the University of Michigan in 1999.

Jason Jay Stevens obtained a BFA for writing in 1993 and has since studied linguistics, the bass guitar, installation art, and professional fabrication.

Tim Chupp is an experimental physicist who uses precision measurement and symmetries to probe elementary particle forces. He received his PhD in 1983 and has taught at Michigan since 1991.
