Recent ideas and computational methods developed in the framework of the gauge/gravity correspondence are becoming increasingly better at describing QCD-like theories. In this climate it becomes important for the string theory community to understand first-hand the challenging problems in QCD and for the QCD community to become acquainted with the gauge/string approach.

One of the goals of this program is to facilitate communication between the QCD and string-theory communities.

The need for such communication was partially addressed in a recent conference. We plan on deepening the dialog between the two communities with this two-week workshop. The program will include some pedagogical and review lectures in an attempt to bridge cultural gaps. There will be a very small number of research talks and ample time will be allocated for discussions.
