Accommodations

The meeting will take place in the Physics Department (Randall Laboratory and West Hall) at the University of Michigan.  Lodging near campus is the preferred option, as there are plenty of shopping and dining destinations within convenient walking distance of central campus.

Although the MCTP will be able to cover the cost of accommodations in most cases, visitors are expected to make their own arrangements.  Please note your hotel information on the registration form so that the MCTP can arrange direct payment to the hotel.

There are a number of hotels in the Ann Arbor area, and an extensive listing is available at the Campus Information Center.

We have asked the following two hotels to set aside a block of rooms for conference participants.  Please mention the Great Lakes Strings Conference when making a reservation at the following hotels. These rooms will be released to the public on Thursday, March 9:

Bell Tower Hotel
20 rooms
The Bell Tower Hotel is located within immediate walking distance of the Physics Department, as well as the entire central campus area, with many shops and restaurants nearby.
Holiday Inn North Campus
30 rooms
The Holiday Inn is further away from the Physics Department, but is conveniently accessible from US-23.  The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle, and AATA bus service is available.

Please note that graduate students are expected to double up in hotel rooms in order to receive full accommodation support.  Additional funds may be available for young researchers on a limited basis.
