Limiting Regimes of Action Minimization |
Abstract: |
We study the probability and pathway of rare events in
certain limiting regimes. One motivation is an interest in
short-time magnetic switching experiments. We discuss the magnetic
example and then present a mathematical analysis of a simpler but
related problem: most-likely switching pathways for the
stochastically perturbed Allen-Cahn equation. We consider a few
limiting regimes and identify a reduced action functional in the
sharp interface limit.
