    Job Opportunity: Environmental Planning Project Manager

    Summary: We are actively seeking to fill a CEQA/NEPA Project Manager position for our growing San Luis Obispo office. This position is a career growth opportunity to join SWCA's expanding California practice, and move up to higher levels of responsibility.

    Responsibilities Include:
    • Serve as project manager for CEQA and NEPA documents prepared for land use and infrastructure projects, managing several concurrent documents;
    • Manage multidisciplinary teams of SWCA staff and sub consultants;
    • Write various generalist sections of CEQA and NEPA documents, such as alternatives, land use impacts, and demographic impacts, and review/edit other sections prepared by resource specialists;
    • Develop new business, prepare proposals and budgets, and make proposal presentations;
    • Act as a client liaison;
    • Ensure CEQA and NEPA project quality, schedule, and budget objectives;
    • Make client and public presentations of CEQA and NEPA documents;
    • Take initiative, resolve problems and create improved procedures to assure client needs are met effectively;
    • Work closely with SWCA's other staff throughout the company on interoffice projects.


    Qualifications Include:
    • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in environmental planning, an environmental science, or a related field. At least five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in preparing CEQA and NEPA documents. At least two (2) years business development experience. Working knowledge of CEQA, NEPA, and California land use regulations. Excellent organizational, oral, written and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ability to travel as needed for projects throughout California. Must have current eligibility to work in the United States (SWCA does not provide sponsorship for work visas at this time). Willingness to learn, have fun, and grow into increased management responsibilities.
    • Desired: Master's degree and experience with wetlands, endangered species or cultural resources regulatory programs and permitting. GIS, graphics or public involvement skills are also a plus.

    The Membership Assistant will be a member of RA's fundraising team. S/he will need to develop a strong understanding of fundraising, membership programs and rainforest conservation issues.

    Responsibilities Include: Data entry, database maintenance and troubleshooting of donor tracking software; Organize and maintain paper and electronic files of individual donors/prospects, donor correspondence and acknowledgements; Assist in the conceptualization, development, writing, and editing of direct mail and other letters, reports, and documents related to the direct mail program; Organize, maintain and coordinate state charitable registrations and reporting; Oversee registration and stewardship for workplace giving campaigns, etc. Represent the organization at membership cultivation events; Facilitate all non-direct mail solicitation mailings, including internet appeals; and Other projects as assigned.
