This page will list foundations that have funded environmental, diversity and social justice issues in recent years. Foundations change their funding portfolios, so grant seekers are advised to check foundation webpages (provided below) to see each organization's funding criteria. It is also a good idea to contact the relevant program officers about funding criteria and proposal submissions.

While the list of environmental grant makers is impressive, the MELDI webpage will focus primarily on the environmental funders who have funded minority organizations, diversity initiatives, projects and programs that are located in minority communities or that benefit low-income communities or communities of color. This page will also list foundations that fund programs that target minorities.

It should be noted that environmental projects are not funded solely through environmental programs. Environmental projects are sometimes funded through programs such as civic participation, public education, community organizing, etc.

For a complete list of environmental grant makers see the Environmental Grant makers Association (EGA) website at: http://www.ega.org/
