Wolverines Hold Their Own vs. Division III Foes
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The
University of Michigan Wolverines faced off against two Division III
North Coast Athletic Conference opponents in Kenyon and Wooster Friday
evening in two half-long scrimmages in front of roughly 200 fans at the
Oosterbaan Fieldhouse. Michigan faired well in both scrimmages scoring
seven unofficial goals in their first contest vs. Wooster while playing
Kenyon to a friendly overtime period.
Head Coach John Paul was pleased
with his squad’s effort. “The most important thing in scrimmages like
this are the ground balls and hustle. Everyone is going to look a
little sloppy this early in the season so I wanted to make sure the guys
brought their intensity. I was pleased with their effort” Paul said.
Coach Paul also found highs in
junior goaltender Dan Webber (Weston, Mass./Weston) and
junior attack/midfield Ryan Clark’s (Summit, N.J./Summit)
games tonight. Paul commented, “Dan Webber played very well in goal. I
was impressed with his play, especially early on. Ryan Clark was also
surprisingly good tonight. I know he was a little banged up and coming
off the bad knee it was good to see him play like that.”
Michigan will play again in two
weeks as they head south to Florida to play Central Florida (Feb. 23),
Florida (Feb. 25) and Brigham Young (Feb. 28). Visit mgoblue.com for
