Constantine Receives 1st-Team Honors in CCLA
ANN
ARBOR, Mich. - Senior captain Jim Constantine (Birmingham,
Mich./Seaholm) was the only Wolverine to be recognized on the All-CCLA
1st Team, announced today by the conference. Junior attackman
Evan Fox (Monsey, N.Y./Suffern) was named to the 2nd-Team,
and seven Wolverines made the Honorable Mention Team. Constantine
is leading the Maize and Blue in both goals (40) and points (57).
He is currently second in the conference in total points and fourth in
points per game (3.80). Both statistics are far ahead of the next
highest scoring midfielder in the CCLA, Michigan's Riley Kearns (Bloomfield
Hills, Mich./Brother Rice), who received Honorable Mention honors.
Fox, who was
Michigan's leading scorer in 2005, has missed several games this season
due to injuries he continues to battle. He has totaled 26 goals
and 13 assists for a 3.00 points per game average, slightly off his 3.52
points per game pace last year that earned him a team-high 74 total
points.
Kearns, a
freshman, is currently second on the team in scoring. He has
played mostly midfield this season, but has also seen the field at
attack. He set a pair of Michigan records against Eastern Michigan
this season with 8 assists and 14 total points.
Also
receiving Honorable Mention honors were midfielders Mark Hammitt
(Madison, N.J./Delbarton-Boston College), Bobby Morales (Bloomfield
Hills, Mich./Brother Rice) and Eric Rimmke (Portage,
Mich./Portage Northern), faceoff specialist Brekan Kohlitz (St.
Clair Shores, Mich./Harper Woods Notre Dame), defenseman Nick
Uhler (Bradford Woods, Penn./North Allegheny), and goalie
Ryan Kaufman (Olney, Md./Magruder).
Hammit, a
sophomore transfer from Boston College, is currently 23rd in the CCLA in
points per game (2.27) and 5th among midfielders. Morales, another
sophomore midfielder, is fifth on the team with 17 goals and sixth in
total points with 23. Rimmke, a senior captain and Michigan's top
defensive midfielder, is the only returning starter from last year's
defensive unit that graduated four All-Americans and five All-CCLA
honorees.
Kohlitz,
another sophomore, is Michigan's top faceoff midfielder this season.
He has won 192 out of 263 faceoffs for a .730 win percentage, and he
leads the team with 110 ground balls. He replaced the graduated
Trevor Broad who had a .638 win percentage as a senior and was honored
as a 2nd-Team All-American.
Sophomore
defenseman Nick Uhler is one of three defenseman who stepped into
starting roles this season after the graduation of all three starters
from last year. Kaufman replaced 1st-Team All-American Dan Webber
in the goal this season. He has managed a .620 save percentage and
a 6.91 goals allowed per game average.
This year's
All-CCLA teams feature the fewest number of Wolverines since the
conference was formed.
