Rogers, Tintchev, Bartomioli Named 2010 Captains

The
University of Michigan Men's Lacrosse team has announced their 2009-10
captains with three seniors earning the honor. Elected by their
teammates, the group features second-year captain and midfielder
David Rogers (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills), and fellow
midfielders Svet Tintchev (Rockville, Md./Bullis) and
Michael Bartomioli (Pleasantville, N.Y./Pleasantville).
The trio
scored 12 goals and two assists in the Wolverines' final three games of
the MCLA National Tournament last season and will look to help U-M win
their third consecutive National Championship this spring. The Maize
and Blue will open their season with a west-coast road swing, kicking
off with Arizona in Tucson on Saturday, February 27.
A junior
captain in '08-'09, David Rogers will be only the fourth two-year
captain in the last 10 years at Michigan. Rogers capped off a
successful junior campaign with his first career hat-trick in the
Wolverines' Championship game win over Chapman. Rogers totalled 15
goals and 6 assists last season.
Tintchev
began his career with the Wolverines as a defensive specialist but has
made the transition to offensive midfield in the past two seasons, and
put up career highs in goals (10) and assists (5) last season.
After
transferring to the Wolverines last season from Division I Providence,
Bartomioli added a physical edge to the defensive midfield while also
contributing 10 goals and four assists in his junior season.
Michigan head coach, John Paul,
commented, "We wouldn't have achieved what we did the past two years
without great leadership from our captains, and I'm confident that these
three can pick up where the last group left off. These three young
men have great character and passion, which are qualities every good
leader must have."
