ALL AMERICAN MIDWEST COMBINE


The All American Midwest Combine is an opportunity for the best players in the Midwest to measure themselves athletically in front of college coaches.  Players will demonstrate and be measured on specific lacrosse skills, speed, agility and strength.  Coaching staffs from over 30 colleges will be present, and player information will be sent to over 300 NCAA and MCLA college programs.

The combine is appropriate for outstanding high school players who are currently in their junior or senior year.  Some exceptions can be made for exceptional sophomores.  Players must have a recommendation from their high school head coach in order to attend.

Schedule of Tests

Players will be measured and observed in the following areas:

  • Height

  • Weight

  • Three Cone "L" Drill

  • Broad Jump

  • Timed Push-Ups

  • 60 Yard Shuttle

  • 40 yard dash

  • Shot Speed

  • Passing Ability

  • Stationary Shot Accuracy

  • Running Shot Accuracy (offensive players)

  • Stick Check / Footwork (defensive players)

  • Saves (goalies)

  • 1 v 1 (not tested - just watched)

  • 4 v 3 (not tested - just watched)

Reports

A full report that includes all testing results (including highs, lows and averages for each test as benchmarks), plus contact information, high school and club team information and academic information, will go out to over 300 college programs one week after the combine.

 

Age & Eligibility

Outstanding high School juniors and seniors (and exceptional sophomores) will be invited.  A recommendation from your high school head coach is required.  Recommendations should be sent to Ed Chima at All American Lacrosse (ed@all-americanlacrosse.com) or John Paul at Michigan (modo@umich.edu).

 

Payment & Registration

Space is limited to 100 of the best players in the Midwest.  Payment is accepted by credit card or online check through the link below.  You MAY NOT register until you have received an official invitation email from the combine.

 

Discount

If you register for either or both sessions of the Michigan Winter Player Clinic on Sunday, January 13, receive a $20 discount off the cost of the combine.

Refund Policy

Full refunds, minus a $10 processing fee, will be granted for cancellation notifications received before 12/15/07.  After that, refunds can only be provided for certified medical reasons.

 

What to Bring

Stick, helmet, gloves, pads, mouthguard, cleats.  While Oosterbaan Fieldhouse has a FieldTurf surface that is optimized for any  type of athletic shoe, cleats or turf shoes are recommended as the agility tests performed at the combine will include hard cuts and slips will impact timing.  The combine will supply a custom, numbered jersey.

Facility & Directions

Oosterbaan Fieldhouse is the home of the University of Michigan men's lacrosse team, and is also used by Michigan Football and other varsity teams.  It is 125 yards long x 65 yards wide.  The FieldTurf surface was installed in 2001 to provide the best possible surface for playability and safety.  For more information and directions, click here.
 

Staff

All Michigan lacrosse camps are run by University of Michigan Men's Lacrosse Head Coach John Paul.  In his first ten seasons at Michigan's helm he has led the Wolverines to a 165 - 42 record, seven CCLA championships and a consistent top-5 national ranking in the MCLA.  He was on the coaching staff of two USA West teams: including the 2002 team that won the International Open Division at the 2002 World Championships in Perth, Australia and the 2005 team that won the Asia-Pacific Games and the Friendship Games in Osaka, Japan.  He travels to Japan every summer to consult for the University of Tokyo men's lacrosse team, the 2005 Japanese college national champions.  Paul played his college lacrosse at Michigan and was drafted by the Detroit Turbos of the Major Indoor Lacrosse League in 1989.  He is the current president of the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association and also serves on  the Executive Board of the US Lacrosse Coaches Council and the Board of Directors of the Michigan Chapter of US Lacrosse.  He is a former member of the Board of Directors of US Lacrosse.
