FACILITIES

Oosterbaan Fieldhouse serves as Michigan Lacrosse's Home playing
field. It is located across the parking lot from Yost Ice Arena and
behind Schembechler Hall on State Street. Aside from
serving as the home of Michigan lacrosse, the building is used by U-M
athletics for indoor practices, and is also used by the University's intramural and
club sports programs.
Constructed in 1970, Oosterbaan Fieldhouse features two endline filming stations, a climate-controlled
playing/spectating environment and sideline seating for
800 people. The building is joined to Schembechler Hall which houses
the Michigan football team. Featuring a
state-of-the-art FieldTurf surface, the enclosed practice and playing area provides year-round,
full-field training and development opportunities.
Plans are currently underway to construct a new, full-field
indoor facility adjacent to Oosterbaan Fieldhouse. When completed, the
new facility will have much more space for fans, including seating for 2,000, restrooms, and concession space. The new building, yet to be named, is
planned for completion by the 2009 lacrosse season. Plans call for Oosterbaan Fieldhouse to remain, which will provide Michigan with two full-field, indoor
facilities.
In addition, three new grass soccer/lacrosse fields will be
constructed by spring 2008 near the Varsity Tennis Center. Phase 1 of
the plan includes one central game field and two practice fields. The
game field will have lights and a scoreboard. Phase 2 includes
permanent grandstands to seat up to 5,000, press box and a possible services
building to house locker rooms, meeting and training spaces and offices.
