Dotie Sipowska has been a faculty member at the University of Michigan system since 1993. She has taught a variety of courses including General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry both, lecture and laboratory. Her research interests have focused on thermodynamics and materials science. In 2001 she spent 6 months as a visiting professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology. Results of her research have been published in 32 peer-reviewed articles and were presented at 39 international conferences. Since 2002, her primary responsibility is coordination of Introductory General Chemistry Program. Changes and innovations she implemented in this program reflect her interest in pedagogy and new classroom technologies and they include, among others, online assignments, electronic grade book, and personal response system.
