Michigan Ice Carving Team
One of the newer student groups to the University of Michigan, this club was started out of Alice Lloyd Hall's "Arts on the Hill" program. Romulus, Michigan native Sultan Sharrief founded the club in 2001. Currently, the group consists of small but dedicated number of students, all from different majors and interests. Usually practicing in front of the Michigan League, the club has made appearances at national events such as the Plymouth Ice Festival held in Plymouth, Michigan.
The Michigan Ice Carving Team is a member organization of the Michigan Student Assembly (MSA), and is advised by professional chef Aaron Bruck from the Michigan League. In addition to carving in competitions, the MICT does numerous local carvings for campus organizations and events. Each winter, the team carves for a number of Main St. businesses and restaurants for a showcase in downtown Ann Arbor.
