Committees

Editing

The task of the Editing Committee is to screen the papers submitted to the Michigan Journal of Political Science and to edit those papers selected for publication in the Journal. The Editing Committee takes on half of the reading load of the Journal, reading every paper at least once and working with other members of the Journal to select the final papers. Then, once the final selections have been made, the Editing Committee works with the authors to prepare their papers for publication.

Marketing

The Marketing Committee seeks to increase the recognition of the journal at the University of Michigan, in the world of academia, and in the sector of public service. The Marketing Committee is also responsible for sending out the Call for Papers each semester to solicit high quality submissions from undergraduates worldwide. Additionally, the Marketing Committee contributes to the editing process by reading and evaluating many of the submitted papers.

Subscriptions

The Subscriptions Committee is primarily responsible for increasing the number of subscribers to the Journal. In this capacity, the Subscriptions Committee gathers information on potential subscribers, including major research universities, political organizations, and libraries. The Subscriptions Committee is also responsible for maintaining records on and mailing new issues of the Journal to all current subscribers. Finally, the Subscriptions Committee contributes to the editing process by reading and evaluating many of the submitted papers.

Finance

The Finance Committee controls all business aspects of the journal, including setting the budget, managing the journal's bank accounts, and dealing with the publisher. In addition, the Finance Committee contributes to the editing process by reading and evaluating many of the submitted papers.

Web Publishing

The Web Publishing Committee administers all activities of the Journal that involve internet communications. Along with maintaining the MJPS website, the Web Publishing Committee manages the online submissions database, keeps periodic contact with undergraduate students that submit papers to the Journal, and promotes the Journal in various online fora. The Web Publishing Committee also contributes to the editing process by reading and evaluating many of the submitted papers.
