Andrew Clark

Mr. Clark is a senior majoring in History and minoring in Middle Eastern Studies. He is currently writing his honors history thesis on the dissemination of secular political philosophy by American ministers in the years leading up to the American Revolution. This past summer, Mr. Clark participated in a training seminar on conflict resolution in Amman, Jordan. In previous summers, he has spent time studying international relations in China and working in the House of Commons in London.
Mr. Clark is interested in most areas of political science, though focuses primarily on international relations and political theory. After graduation, he hopes to spend a few years studying in the Middle East, particularly Egypt, or working in Washington D.C. in the intelligence community.

Neil Rao

Mr. Rao is in his fourth year at the University of Michigan, pursuing a dual-degree program with a B.A.(Honors) in English Language and Literature as well as a M.P.H. in Health Management and Policy. For his undergraduate thesis, Mr. Rao performed a case study of the 2003 SARS epidemic and analyzed the discourses used by multiple media outlets - science fiction literature, newspapers, and scholarly journals - to discuss the public's reaction to the outbreak, focusing specifically on fear responses. Mr. Rao is further developing this study for his Masters thesis and has applied to the Fulbright Program for a grant to study in Canada, hoping to continue this work during 2008-2009.
After graduation in April 2008, Mr. Rao plans either to participate in the Fulbright program or return to McKinsey and Company, a management consulting firm where he interned during the summer of 2007.

Auren Kaplan

Mr. Kaplan is interested in both domestic and global politics, with a
particular interest in Latin American affairs. To that end, he studied
abroad in Santiago, Chile last year, researching models of economic
growth and electoral systems of the region. He plans to write a senior
thesis on the problem of economic development in Latin America.
Additionally, Mr. Kaplan is a former Co-Chair of MSA's Voice Your Vote
Commission, which seeks to register students to vote, inform them of
the issues, and make sure they vote on Election Day. Voice Your Vote
registered nearly 5,000 students for the November 2006 elections. Mr.
Kaplan is studying at the University of Michigan on a full tuition and
housing scholarship, the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship.
Mr. Kaplan is an Honors student in his third year at the University of
Michgan, with concentrations in both Spanish and Political Science. He
plans to attend law school after graduation.

Mr. Minhas currently serves as an associate for Nasim Group, a private investment firm. He has served as the head intern for Representative John Dingell in Washington D.C, and in London at Parliament for Bob Blizzard MP.
Mr. Minhas is a junior at the University of Michigan. He is majoring in Economics and Political Science and minoring in History.

Mr. Owens is President and founder of the Contemporary Issues Mentorship Program. He is also co-coach of the Pioneer High School debate program. After spending his winter semester abroad at Oxford University, Mr. Owens interned in the Political Section of the American Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.
Mr. Owens is an Honors student in his fourth year at the University of Michigan, concentrating in Philosophy and Political Science. He is currently writing his senior philosophy thesis on the problem of testimony in asylum hearings. His interests include political theory and international politics.

Mr. Sohoni’s love for politics was cultivated at a young age during the 2000 election. He has been involved in campaigns and elections ever since. He is currently a Field Organizer for the University of Michigan College Democrats and is looking forward to continuing his involvement in politics at all levels. He is also a member of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity and has been involved in student government in various capacities.
Mr. Sohoni is a junior in the Undergraduate Business Program. He intends to concentrate in business law and hopefully attend law school upon graduation.

Ms. Vij’s interests include international policy, human rights, globalization, and elections. She has traveled extensively and volunteered with the Peace Corps in Thailand. This past summer she interned at Search for Common Ground, a conflict resolution NGO in Washington, D.C. In addition to MJPS, she conducts research on election violence, is involved with Net Impact, an organization which promotes sustainable business practices, as the Social Entrepreneurship committee chair, and she is also a member of the American MENSA Society. She loves dancing of all kinds and learning languages – she is fluent in Spanish, as well as proficient in Portuguese and Hindi.
Ms. Vij is a third-year student in the Gerald Ford School of Public Policy. She plans to focus on war, human rights, and conflict resolution. |

Joy Y. Cheng

Ms. Cheng is passionate about global politics, especially issues pertaining to economic disparity, public health and human rights. She has spent a summer in Kumasi, Ghana helping a local village build a women's center for vocational skills and is currently active in the Ann Arbor community in various grassroots campaigns. She is studying politics and theology at Oxford University in the winter of 2007.
Ms. Cheng is a senior at the University of Michigan, concentrating in Political Science. Her interests include international relations, law and issues concerning social justice. She is considering serving in the Peace Corps upon graduation and wishes to become an international lawyer. |

Mr. Harter is particularly interested in international politics. He has
previously interned with Congressman Peter Hoekstra. He also
worked with the Bureau of Diplomatic Security at the US Embassy The
Hague.
After graduation, Mr. Harter would like to either pursue a law degree or
study in a foreign country.

Mr. Hill is heavily active with the Roosevelt Institution, working as a member of the National Editorial Board and as the Communications Director for the Michigan chapter. He also has experience working in the War Room of Sen. John McCain's presidential campaign, and is currently serving as the Rapid Response Director for the Scott Harper for Congress campaign.
Mr. Hill is a second year Honors student in political science at the University of Michigan. He is applying to transfer into the Bachelor's program at the Ford School of Public Policy, and hopes to pursue either a J.D. or Ph.D. in political science upon graduation. His areas of interest are American/International politics, formal modeling, and strategic games.

Ms. Hsu is interested in domestic and international politics and law,
as well as political economy and theory. She enjoys discourse on
biological research, business practices, and Asia, Europe, and the
Middle East. One summer she interned at the Center for Disease Control
in Taiwan, where she studied enteroviruses and edited scientific
papers. She has engaged in research on renal stem cells at the
University of Michigan Medical School, and served on the executive
board of the Taiwanese American Students Association.
Ms. Hsu is in her third year at the University of Michigan. Majoring
in Political Science and minoring in Biology, she intends to attend law
school after graduation.

Ms. Johnson is currently a sophomore in the Residential College and is
concentrating in Political Science and French. She spent the summer
working at the State Public Policy Group, a public policy consulting
firm in Des Moines, Iowa, where she addressed topics such as healthcare
reform and the 2008 Presidential race. She is currently assisting a
University of Michigan professor in researching collaborative
policymaking.
Ms. Johnson is interested in international relations, healthcare
policy, and American politics. She speaks French and enjoys traveling.
She also plans to attend law school and pursue a career in
international law.

Natasha Luppov

Ms. Luppov has held an internship with the Washtenaw County Prosecutor for the past several summers and is currently employed on a part-time basis by the office. She also serves as a justice for the Central Student Judiciary, the highest student court for the Michigan Student Assembly. In addition, Ms. Luppov is a captain of the varsity Cross Country team as well as a member of the varsity Track and Field team for the University. She is currently a representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Ms. Luppov is an Honors student in her fourth year at the University of Michigan, concentrating in both Political Science and Russian. She is currently writing her senior honors thesis for the Political Science Department, investigating Supreme Court dissents from denial of certiorari. Ms. Luppov also has an interest in business and has future plans to pursue a JD/MBA joint degree. In addition to academics, she loves to travel, read, and play the piano.

Mr. Mangalick has an intense interest in theoretical politics, as well as political economy. He is active in the domestic political scene, volunteering in numerous local, statewide, and national campaigns. Mr. Mangalick is also fond of traveling, having been to numerous countries around the world, including England, France, China, Germany, and India.
Mr. Mangalick is a second year student at the University of Michigan, concentrating in political science and economics. His academic interests include public policy, political philosophy and political economy.

Ms. Mitroka is interested primarily in Human Rights, Peace/Conflict, and European Union Issues. In the summer of 2004 she studied “the ethics of pre-emptive strike” at Oxford University and in 2006, interned as a research assistant for Mike Hancock MP CBE of the British Parliament in London. This past year she volunteered as a “Cultural Ambassador in the Classroom” via the German American Institute in Tübingen, Germany while studying abroad there. She is a University of Michigan delegate to the 2007 SCUSA International Foreign Policy Conference and is currently writing a Thesis on “Anti-American” Sentiment among German Youth. On campus, Katherine is an active member of the RC Players Theater Troupe. She is also a teaching assistant in RCLANG 191 – Intensive German for Beginners, and in an Adult ESL Classroom at the Northwood Community Center
In her third and final year at the University of Michigan, Ms. Mitroka is concentrating in both German and Political Science. She plans on pursing a joint JD/MA International Relations degree upon graduation, is considering serving in the Peace Corps, and hopes ultimately to work in Foreign Service. Katherine loves to travel and enjoys the fine arts. |
Nura Sediqe

Nura is a senior studying Political Science, Communications and Near Eastern Studies. She is currently working on her honors thesis in Political Science, exploring the effects of political communication on race and education policy opinion. She is also a research assistant at the university's Political Science Department. She currently serves on the executive committee for national chapter of the Muslim Students Association. She was president of the Muslim Students Association on campus and Director of the organization's national conference last year, and has been featured in the New York Times and PBS through her work with the MSA.Nura is also Vice President of The Mortar Board senior honor society. She previously worked as a Research Assistant for America Abroad Media and is a student scholar for the Drum Major Public Policy Institute. Nura was recently chosen to be a part of the Fulbright Commission's Berlin Capital program. |

David Suska is in his third year at the University of Michigan, concentrating in both economics and political science. He is an executive board member and analyst for Michigan Interactive Investments Ltd., a student-operated non-profit financial organization at UM. Mr. Suska’s academic interests include financial economics, monetary policy, and constitutional politics. Mr. Suska helped establish and coordinate the inaugural Michigan Economic Forum, held in March 2007 at UM. He will graduate from UM in April 2008 as a James B. Angell Scholar.
Mr. Suska intends to pursue a graduate degree in economics from the University of Michigan and would like to attend law school. Outside interests include golfing, fishing, financial markets, and reading. |
Raj Vashi

Mr. Vashi is a member ofthe Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, a member of the Indian American Student Association, and a volunteer at Providence Hospital of Southfield for the past three years. He is also a recipient of the Engineering Scholarship of Honor.
Mr. Vashi has an unbridled passion for international politics and affairs and also considers himself to be a formidable table tennis player.
Mr. Vashi is a third year student in the College of Engineering, concentrating in Industrial and Operations Engineering. His primary interest in the field is ergonomics. |
Natalie Warrick

Ms. Warrick has worked as an intern for the Dick DeVos for Governor campaign, where she helped to organize events and coordinate volunteers at several Oakland County offices. She has also spent the summer of 2007 in Washington, D.C., where she was selected to be an intern for the Congressional Institute. She worked alongside the President of the Institute and assisted in research on generational differences in the congressional workplace. Ms. Warrick worked with the Institute to coordinate several Leadership Luncheons, including a session with Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee. She is also an active member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
Ms. Warrick is a junior at the University of Michigan, majoring in Political Science and minoring in French and Francophone Studies. She will be studying politics in Paris in the spring and plans to attend law school after her undergraduate career. |
