So, how many of you loved your internships so much, you cried on the last day? We know one of you did...(we wonít tell you who, but sheís blonde). But probably the majority of us are glad the internships are over working just isn't that much fun. Now we're back and happy about it we're in control of our own schedules, right? School is much better than work...but the paychecks are hard to give up.
A lot of us were in New York this summer. Manny V. had a great summer, he hung out at the Cannes Film Festival with Mario Van Peebles, he won $160 in Monte Carlo, saw the Grand Prix of Monaco, hung out with Neve Campbell and the new young guy from Studio 54, talked to Vanessa Williams and Sandra Bullock at the Copacabana in NYC, flew on the GTE corporate jet...and of course fatefully ran into Natasha S. at a swank bar on the upper west side. After leaving the white water and canyons of Colorado behind (Outward Bound kicked her butt with 65 pounds of backpack on the back), Natasha S. ventured over to the big city. While Nisha S. was taking such good care of her plant back in Ann Arbor, Natasha S. and summer roomie Section 4's Emilian H. allowed the roof deck garden of their sublet apartment to slowly perish under the wilting New York sun. A costly mistake. Dan M. blurred through New York several times like the Tazmanian Devil, and frequented Natasha and Emilian's couch.
Joe S. worked in Chicago with Vijay. Apparently, Vijay had a typo in their final report - the data was gathered through phoney interviews... hmmm. Was it a typo, Vijay? David V. split his summer with Bayerische Vereinsbank between New York and Munich. Ich liebidich, Dave. (We don't really know how to spell that obviously). Ian H., our entrepreneur club pres, was in Ford's Marketing Leadership Program this summer - he got to race around the track at 100 mph in a Contour SVT, and got to travel to California, Florida and best of all, Oklahoma. So, Ian, I guess you've driven a Ford lately.
Congratulations to Andy H. He and Kate got married this summer and had a blast. She's still long distance, at Olin, but now it's official.
And finally, Huifen T. writes from her post in Rotterdam, Holland where she is doing a fall term exchange program. She sends her greetings to section 2 and ended her note with a hearty Go Blue! Until next time...and welcome back.
Hey section three welcome back! We have to tell you all that its really nice to be seeing you again. Kevin's summer in Cincinnati was rewarding, but it lasted just long enough to make him realize that this crazy MBA world we live in is really a great place to be. We are looking forward to sharing the next eight months of sleep deprivation and interview mania with you guys, cause otherwise we don't know how we'd get through it. And hot off the presses, here comes the summer news:
We have two new inductees to Section Three's contingent of the Michigan SOS club. Ladies cry your last tears because Ryan S. and Austin C. are officially off-the-market Ryan S got married to another wolverine ( she is from the Law school). Austin C. after making his millions (of hamburger) at the Hamburger University in Oakbrook, IL for McDonald's got Mcmarried to Amy. The couple had a great McHoneymoon in Italy. Congratulations to both couples.Soon to be joining the ranks of the ball-and-chained is Kevin "The Godfather" P. Congratulations to both couples. More news on this issue will be appearing soon. And that's not all...
We had two engagements in the section over those romantic summer months. Guys, now its our turn to let those tears flow. Congratulations to Meg T. and her new fiance John, who have already started planning their ceremony for next summer in the Connecticut, and to Lisa D. and her new fiance Skip. Skip apparently learned that he couldn't live without Lisa when she departed to China for a two-month WDI internship adventure. Soon after Skip proposed, Lisa celebrated with a new tatoo! Ask her to show you! And that's not all...
Micah W. and his wife Yael are expecting a baby in October! On a personal note, I'd like to offer a few suggestions for a name. If it's a boy name him Kevin. If it's a girl, name her Kevina. And just to prove that too much is never enough for Martin S. and his wife Melina, this lucky couple are expecting TWINS! Suggested names: Maize and Blue!
Well that's a lot of good news for a darn good section. To celebrate I think we ought to get Mitch M., section three's new SGA representative, to lead us in a cheer sometime this week. A big thanks and congratulations goes out to all those Section Threers who helped indoctrinate our successors, the Section Three Class of 2000 by acting as Orientation Leaders during LDP! That list includes: Ann P., Karen R., Lisa D., Mark D., Micah W., Mitch M., Rob E., Romulo T., and Zach M. under Meg's stewardship. And thanks to Sandy A. who magnanimously volunteered her house for the first year section party.
Marcus H returned from his summer internship with Booz Allen working in the post office- just don't piss him off as he might go Postal. Tom H. had his fill of Philly cheesestakes after an eventful summer with Smithkline Beecham in Philadelphia- in case of discomfort just reach for Tums, Tom ( incidentally he has got a life time supply due to his internship).
That's all for now you guys. Please keep me in the loop with what's going on and don't be shy about volunteering to write this column this year! See you in CS.
Hey! Hey! Welcome Back! I am glad to see you have all survived the summer and back in the saddle. It sounds like Beau took NY by storm stories have it that he may soon be running for mayor. So much for the bleeding heart welcome lets move directly to the filth of Section 4.
What did you think of Cookin with Cooke? Now, the real reason Scott has joined LTO. In a dream, Jim Morrison visited Scott. Jim told Scott that if he plays, the undergrads will follow! Since we on the topic of lovin'(or lusting), our African sources tell us that there is a new "Jule of the Nial" (the 8th Wonder of the World) and the latter half will soon be making an American tour. Additionally, Carl P. had a summer fling with a supermodel. What is it with that apartment something must be in the water. Speaking of new living arrangement, an unconfirmed source has identified that Marlo's underwear was found in Bernie's room and that Bernie now wears them as his own. Audiences are waiting to see Dorota's reaction recent polls believe that she likes it. Bets are being taken by Scott W. Rumors have also surfaced that Emillian has someone on the line but he refuses to comment on this matter.
Hot from our "South of the Border" intelligence group is this current news flash. Based on recent sightings, Maria and Alex may have been bitten by the Latin luv-bug.
The "House of 7" has been successfully overridden by the boys of Section 4. Speaking of the boys, have you notices Eric B's new wardrobe Bernie believes that he is the latest addition to the Village People. Or as Sunny would put it "Way to go Tough Guy". By the way, great party the other night most of us are still recovering.
Lets all congratulate Mike P. and his wife Kelly. They are expecting a little one. I guess a little distance does make the heart grow fonder.
Lets give Al R. special thanks for his diligence in making it the best MBA Games of all time. To a fantastic year everyone!!! Best wishes your roaming columnists.

Welcome back, Section 5! How does it feel to be MBA2s? The countdown to April 30th has begun.
All right, down to the good stuff. Many interesting things happened to our section mates over the summer. First of all, a very belated congratulations to Sean H., who on March 17th become the proud father of a 7lb., 6 oz. baby boy named Trajan Alexander. We are so happy for you and your wife.
Congratulations to John B. on the impending arrival of his third child. His wife Marlo is doing fine, and Katie and Eric are excited about their new sibling-to-be.
Congratulations to the newlyweds ñ Scott M. (May), Jason O. (mid-August) and Tina S. (August 30). Congratulations to the soon-to-be-wed John C. (is it this weekend?). AND congratulations to the newly (and not-so-newly) engaged - Daryl W., Matt S., Michael G., Dina P., Ingo S., and Michael H. Rumor has it that Jen H., Carlos Z., Dina P., and Matt S. are all getting married on June 5. Have you considered getting a corporate sponsor and having a group wedding? Zingerman's could cater.
Hot off the rumor mill ñ a wedding is in the works for two Section 5ers. If it's true, congratulations to Andre B. and Brenda F. You two are a good match.
Another congratulations to Mike N. for being the first to accept a full-time job offer (Morgan Stanley).
An update from Trevor W.'s $3 party - Menno E. and Carlos Z. were placing bets on when McGuire would hit his 61st home run. Felipe G. came up with the rules of the bet. You can either chug a beer or play with the sausage. We don't understand it, either. Ask Carlos Z. Another random comment ñ something about Jorge M. hugging international students at the airport. Guess he's really bummed about that pilot strike.
Congratulations to Sue S. for doubling , in one day of Corporate Strategy, her entire class participation air time thus far at Michigan. You were great.
Congratulations to Safe Dave S., the assistant sports editor of the MSJ, for finally passing his writing assessment. Way to go, Dave. We won't make any snide comments about that test.
A belated happy birthday to Ru W. (who just celebrated her one-year anniversary with Gary S.), and a hearty happy birthday to Jen H. We'll try to be better about remembering these important events.
A bit of summer irony. Eric S. was all excited about working out of Chicago. However, after starting his job, he found out he'd be spending every work week of the summer in, you guessed it, DETROIT. His comment - "You know, I never got my money's worth out of that $1800/month studio in downtown Chicago."
And just so you all don't think we forgot about MAP, kudos to the Section 5er who, during one faculty presentation, came across a slide he not only didn't recognize, but didn't understand. How did this person recover? He simply said, "I believe this slide speaks for itself. Next slide, please." We're in awe of such quick thinking.
We're back, fall is here, and it seems like we never left. Please keep us posted on interesting happenings.
Just to make sure the notion has sunk in, you now have to look under the "MBA2" Section news for your dirt. Things have changed - we have grown (or so we claim). Let's get to the news...
Jimmy B. was spotted TPing the French Consulate in Chicago. We're still not sure if it was some kind of payback to Pierre, or if there was just a sale on Charmin and he had nothing else to do.
We hear that Rick M. will soon be touring the nation as the Pillsbury Doughboy. Don't tell me that we'll be losing another sectionmate!
We have had although I'm going out on a limb here at least four weddings this summer. Congratulations to the brides of Kevin W., Geraldo R. and Sam S. , and of course the new husband of Jina S.
The Flats in Cleveland are still reeling from Matt R.'s birthday excursion with Mark R., this summer. Have you ever noticed that you never see Matt and Drew Cary in the same place at the same time? Hmmm....
So, D. Greg, are you sure the rabies shots are working? We've noticed a little foam around the mouth.
It seems Chris R. had a little trouble winning over his girlfriend's parents with his charms. They weren't too thrilled with that pesky age difference, either.
Is it our imagination, or is Karen M. turning in to our designated Corp Strat gunner?
It was great to get the turn-out of Section 6 for LDP despite the fact that certain members of our section were hungover and decided to sleep in on the first day (Chris R. and Rene V.) It seems that they mistook LDP for our 8:30 Econ class last year, and decided to hit snooze. Thanks Scott H. and crew for the light show and music on the first day. If that didn't scare away the first years, I'm sure Adam's hair did. A few of our team leaders were not shy in pointing out the we are the section that runs the school. Luckily, Jeanine F. was around to tell the impressionable new folks that we are modest too. A final note, we must abashedly admit that this year's Section Six kicks our butts at cheering in the Power Center, even if they did ignore most of Rich L.'s songs.
Let's have another great year, GO SECTION 6!!!
