Founded in 1876 by Theodore Presser and sixty-two of his friends, the Music Teachers National Association is currently the largest professional, non-profit music teachers organization in the world. More than 26,000 members—comprised of independent and collegiate music teachers—are committed to furthering the art of music through teaching, performance, composition and scholarly research.
Message from the President
Welcome to the University of Michigan's MTNA Collegiate Chapter website! Our activities cover five main areas: Recruitment and Exposure, Community and Teacher Service, Research and Presentations, Collaboration and Networking, and Fundraising.
We had an exciting year leading up to the 2011 National Conference in Milwaukee. Our seven members worked hard to expand our network and the depth of our activities, organizing an intercollegiate exchange with Central Michigan University, and presenting both a poster session and an unforgettable presentation on teaching Liszt together with the University of Oklahoma's Collegiate Chapter at the National Conference. The success of these activities brought forth a cascade of new ideas and exciting projects for the 2011-2012 academic year.
