The Friends are still in the forming stage. It is anticipated that there will be two groups that will guide the Friends as follows:
The Executive Council will function as a group that will guide functions on an ongoing basis. This group will meet monthly and will set the overall tone for the group. Some activities include assisting in the planning and implementation of programming events such as the Biennial Reunion, Escapade, Michigras and commencement activities.
The Board of Directors will serve as the development arm of the Friends. A group is currently meeting to develop the focus of the Board. The Board will meet about four times per year, with additional subcommittee meetings.
In addition, anyone can become a “Friend” simply by contributing a gift specifically to the Michigan Union.
