The Michigan Union was conceived in 1904 and officially opened in 1919. Since that time, the Union has served as a center for student life on campus. As one of the most treasured landmarks on campus, millions have walked through our doors from freshmen to world leaders. It is where the campus community can feel welcomed, gain valuable experiences, and become involved in co-curricular activities.

The Union is an “auxiliary” unit within University Unions, the division of Student Affairs and the University of Michigan. As such, it is responsible for generating revenue to support the ongoing programs and services, as well as the preservation of the historic building. In order to continue to maintain the operations of the Union to support student life, your financial support is critical. If you think back about your time on campus it is likely that the Michigan Union served as a place for you to meet with friends, supported the activities of an organization you were involved with or simply served as a great place to grab a bite to eat between classes. The Michigan Union was, and will continue to be, your student union. Please join your colleagues from across the generations who are now giving back to the Union that has given you so much in the past.
