The cat is a fascinating creature. For many centuries the cat has been worshipped due to its grace. Cats movements have been the subject of many studies. Many researchers have noted that cats have several different types of gait. The cat has a slow meander, which involves a sequence of double support and triple support cycles. The purposeful walk has a series of double and triple support cycles also. The cat's trot involves a series of alternating diagonal double support cycles. The cat's run is a series of alternating front-and-back double support cycles. Are these the only differences between the different types of gait? Are there more significant differences between these gaits?
The purpose of this project is to evaluate the movements of the friendly feline. We will be analyzing the differences between two of the pre-determined types of gait: walking and trotting. We will be trying to determine if there are any kinematic differences in these movements.
