INTRODUCTION

Over the past couple of decades, more people have been engaging in exercises, such as walking. Consequently, people are concerned with knowing if there are any differences between level and incline walking. We are going to focus on the gait cycle and joint angles of the shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle throughout the walking motion. In order to maximize one's workout, it is helpful for one to understand the biomechanics of his/her exercise routine.

To answer the question posed in our project, the subject was videotaped while walking on a treadmill at both a zero and a fifteen degree incline. The gait cycle and joint angles were later analyzed. From the results we were able to compare and contrast the differences between walking on an incline and walking on a flat plane.
