Squatters

Is there a difference between performing a leg press and a squat? We are interested in this activity because all three of us are avid weight lifters. Our plan is to focus on the hip and shoulder joints in order to study how the motion of the trunk differs between the two movements. We plan to place markers on the ankle, knee, hip and shoulder. This will allow us to make recommendations between the two exercises in terms of preventing lower back injury. The camera will view the movements from the side showing movements along the sagittal plane. To maintain consistency, Ed will perform both exercises and use the same loaded weight.
