Transitioning From my.umich E-Mail to Alternative Mail Programs

A number of e-mail alternatives are available, depending on which e-mail service you use:

Basic Computing Package E-Mail Users
If you use the e-mail provided by Information Technology Central Services (ITCS) as part of the Basic Computing Package, you can use these programs to access your e-mail:

For information about, and instructions for using, these programs, see How do I use one of the e-mail packages supported at U-M (mail.umich.edu, Pine, Mulberry, Eudora)? on ITweb.

CAEN, SNRE, and Department of Human Genetics E-Mail Users
Information Technology Central Services (ITCS) staff members will be working with the impacted departments to look at additional options for providing e-mail access to CAEN, SNRE, and Department of Human Genetics mailboxes. In the meantime, the options below are available.

  • CAEN E-Mail Users. Those in the College of Engineering who use my.umich to access their CAEN e-mail can look on CAEN's e-mail web page for information about alternative ways to access their e-mail. Alternatives include Mail, Pine, MH, EXMH, and Eudora.
  • SNRE E-Mail Users. Those who use my.umich to access School of Natural Resources and the Environment (SNRE) e-mail can look on the SNRE Information Technology Services web page for alternatives. Alternatives include Mulberry and Netscape mail.
  • Department of Human Genetics E-Mail Users. Those who use my.umich to access Department of Human Genetics e-mail can look on the Department of Human Genetics Computer Support Help Desk web page for general computing information and how to contact support staff who can help configure Mulberry for use with Department of Human Genetics e-mail servers.
