Procera® Zirconia

The Procera® System also involves the use of a densely sintered high-purity zirconia, another ceramic material that can be used to fabricate copings for crowns, one-piece or multi-unit all-ceramic bridges, and ceramic implant abutments. These ceramic units are then combined with low fusing veneering porcelain that creates the anatomic form of the restoration and the occlusal morphology. The zirconia material is selected for use because of its outstanding strength characteristics. Another added feature with this material is its light color. In the anterior portions of the mouth the lighter color assists the Ceramists in creating naturalness. The techniques for using this ceramic material is the same as that used with the Procera® Aluminum Oxide coping. The individual copings or one-piece zirconia oxide substructures are manufactured by Nobel Biocare at their facilities and then returned to the laboratory of origin for veneering porcelain application and final finishing. The qualities of Procera® Zirconia Oxide components have been under evaluation by the Center in various studies. The abstracts and reports of these studies are presented in this website.
