The Mata-Fink laboratory, co-directed by Drs. David Fink and Marina Mata, is located in the Biomedical Sciences Research Building on the campus of the University of Michigan Medical School and at the affiliated VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System. Research in the lab is focused on the development of modified herpes simplex virus (HSV) based gene transfer vectors as tools for understanding - and the development of novel treatments for - disorders of the nervous system. The first human trial of these vectors began at the University of Michigan in September 2008.

For a more detailed description of ongoing research projects, please see the Mata-Fink laboratory webpage (www.med.umich.edu/neurology/mata-fink_lab).
