HOW TO REPORT

To report a dangerous situation that is underway, call 911 for an immediate response. This will connect you to either the U-M Department of Public Safety for on-campus activity or to the Ann Arbor Police Department. The two departments will coordinate a response.

If you have information about possible hazing activities and want to report them, there are several things you should know. To stop the activities you must be willing to provide sufficient details so that the person to whom you are reporting will have the ability to conduct an investigation. In most cases, those who are doing the reporting would prefer to remain anonymous. Almost always they want the identity of the person/s being hazed to remain anonymous. Although every attempt will be made to do so, it is possible that identification will be discovered by those accused of hazing. Feel free to ask whether the individual to whom you wish to report information can maintain confidentiality. See the section on confidential and legally privileged conversations.
