The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is an organization
by which all Historically African American Fraternities and
Sororities at the University of Michigan are governed under.
National Pan-Hellenic Council is the umbrella organization for five
fraternities (Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi
Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, and Iota Phi Theta) and four sororities
(Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Zeta Phi Beta, and
Sigma Gamma Rho). The National Pan-Hellenic Council assures
that member organizations cooperatively work together while
maintaining their distinct identities. National Pan-Hellenic Council
organizations embrace a service oriented philosophy and aim
to promote the continuance of social action, political
empowerment and economic development. The National
Pan-Hellenic Council is constantly providing methodologies
by which these services can be implemented within the local,
national, and international communities.

The representatives of The National Pan-Hellenic Council -
representing the 7 black Greek organizations with active
chapters at U of M - recognize the need for unity among
African-American Greeks along with all Greeks and all
African American students on campus. We see the need
for pursuing academic excellence, supporting social and
inner growth as well as giving back and uplifting all mankind.
