spring term, focusing on plants
below your knees in natural
ecosystems.
Fall Term:
Forest Ecology, NRE 435: Taught
during Fall Term. Woody
plants and landscape ecosystems
emphasized; trips to northern
Michigan and the Great Smoky Mountains.
Summer Term:
University of Michigan Biological
Station, Pellston, MI:
Many field courses are taught at
this field station near Pellston
in the northern tip of the Lower
peninsula. In the summer
session (June-August) the school
of Natural Resources and
Environment offers the course Habitats
and Organisms,
NRE 330/507. The SNRE
general ecology requirement is met
by taking this course. General
Ecology (Bio 381) is taught
during the spring session (May-June).

alone. Emphasis on the
inner workings of plants, such
as phytochromes, hormones, and
biochemistry.
